喜吾他川榮獲美國地產獎 金獎「Newborn」 Living Spaces
The project is a renovation for a family of five—the concept design benefits from concealing unappealing aspects of the grounds. The designer utilized subtle yet romantic methods of blending the overhead beams to reduce aesthetic noise while minimizing the restrictive feel of enclosed space. The ceilings visibly anoint different spaces with clear atmospheric change. Warm interior lighting imitates and increases the natural lighting from the exterior limitedly provided. The designers’ concept design tilted into the style of comfort and rejuvenating essence building. With this as the core, the interior is designed to enhance the client’s rejuvenation period, thus replicating the feel of being reborn after enduring the outside world. Unsubtly, the project is given the name “Newborn,” which symbolizes the home acting as a location for the clients to reenter stasis and later be reborn into the world, ready to face life again. In a family of five, privacy is a core necessity. The public areas act as a separation between bedrooms, thus enhancing the ease of access between areas. In addition, the open layout and easily maneuverable furniture allow for flexible use to accommodate any event activity the family could perform. Specifically, positioned couches near the windows make the space feel more comfortable and accessible for mental renewal. Redesigning a space that focuses on the balance of privacy, functionality, aesthetics, and flexibility is the biggest challenge of this project. The transformation of the interior’s spacing allowed for much-improved flexibility in which all occupants can comfortably navigate and utilize every living space. In addition, numerous subtle designs and suggestive partitions project a sense of privacy without inducing a cramped environment, enhancing living flexibility and functionality.
